Animation Update: Do Come My Darling

Fixing the animation of the scene for New Designers.
Attempt number one (fixing the Son, the Elking not edited yet):

After receieving feedback additional changes have been made to the Son's animation to make him feel more scared and distanced from the Erlking:

There's still a lot of fixing to be done but it's much better than it was before.

The Son Updated Pose

I changed the pose of the son and updated the lighting also for his turnaround.

The Father Son and Horse Animation

Alan told me to push a few of the key frames in the horse from the last update on the Horse and I think that it is now working smoother and more fluid as an animation. I also added the bounce of the the father and son

The Son: Texturing Completed

Colour Blocking

Initally figuring out the painterly texture on the face started of with the face shader but the painterly texture was not able to come through  very well because of the shader so I tried just using  a lambert but he was too pasty we then figured out that we could plug the texture into the diffuse layer and this gave us the colour pay off that we wanted while giving us the skin shader assets.

I wanted to try and break up the helmet layer of the hair so I played with the transparency and went in created the parting and little transparent strokes in the front to help the hair feel more like hair and keep with the painterly feel that we were trying to aim for.

after getting tthe colouring on the face correct i tryied to test out adding pores but decided to leave the son without pores because he looked better that way

The brush strokes on the body then had to be figured out the son as a character is poor so i also wanted to give him a tattered appearance by playing with the transparecy and I thought that this would also keep things looking painterly also if he didnt have very clean edges.

Testing the transparency on the edges of the clothing and getting the brush strokes to work

Final close up of the face
The Painterd Uv maps with specular maps and transparency maps. Also the son had an under colour of skin to push out his cheek colour and lip colour

The Son: Corrective Blendshapes,Rivets and Final Rig

The Son needed corrective blendshapeps in his arms and also in his chest to help pull out this vest that would deform into the model. The blendshapes were able to correct these issues.

The Expression library was very helpful to store the facial expressions that I created for the son

The Completed Son Rig also includes a control to move his tunic to help his legs from phasing through his clothing

The Son:Modelling and UV Mapping

Modelling the body I made a base chest underneath the clothing I used this base to turn into the shirt and the vest and to help with creating the belt. when I finished Modelling like in page 5 I cut away the parts of the body that were unnecessary  for the model, I also combined the pants to the trousers to make it easier for skinning and rigging.

Modelling:The Son

The Son has had his ear updated to help with the flow of geometry and to also give me geometry to sculpt his ear with.

I have also updated the neck to create the muscle that is in the neck.

I have also been playing with the hair and i have layered image planes and sculpted geometry to try and find a happy middle groud that will give me the desired look that I am looking for.

This was the first attempt with just long image planes

I then went in and modelled a base for the hair then added extra image planes

Then I layered everything that I created
