The colours that I like the most for the horse are A,D and H but I would like for the horse to compliment the son and father. So his colour will be dependent on how well it fits with the colour scheme.
My gut says a pale horse would look great, fleeing through the dark forest, and as your son and father are all in the brown zone, a brown horse might make everything blend together? I'd like to see groupings of all your characters together soon.
